If you are interested in consigning your dress or veil, please email me at somethingborroweddr@gmail.com. Include the year it was purchased, size, and approximate cost of your dress or veil, along with a picture(s). Note: This doesn’t guarantee it will be consigned in our shop, but we will contact you as soon as possible to let you know either way. Our inventory is constantly changing, so our needs our constantly changing as well.
What does consigning a dress mean?
–This means that we do not purchase the dress from you but instead we rent your dress out for you and you receive a portion of the rental price. You still remain the owner of the dress.
What dresses do you accept?
— We currently accept dresses that are 5 years old or newer. They need to be stylish and fit with the current fashion trends. We accept all sizes and styles.
About how much would my dress rent for?
–Typically a wedding dress from our shop rents for around $100 to $400. Your dress would usually rent for about one-fourth of the price you paid for it. For example, if you spent $1200 on a wedding dress, we would rent that out for about $300 (given that its condition is very good). We also take into consideration not only the price you originally paid but also how old the dress is and its current condition when determining a rental price.
What would I receive when my dress gets rented out?
–Each time that your dress is rented out, you receive 25% of the rental price. Hence, for a $400 rental price your commission would be $100.
When can I get my dress back?
–Since you remain the owner of the dress, you can pick it up at any time. However, if your dress is currently reserved to be rented, you cannot pick it up until after the dress is done being rented and we’ve had it cleaned.
Is there anything that I need to do?
–No. All you need to do is bring your dress in ready to be rented (already dry cleaned) and we will take it from there. If your dress needs dry cleaned, we can do it for you for $95. We are responsible for dry cleanings in between rentals.
How do I receive money when my dress is rented?
–Each time your dress is rented out, you can either be paid via Venmo or a check in the mail.
What happens if my dress gets damaged?
–When someone renting your dress signs the rental agreement, they know they are responsible for damages made to your dress and will pay the amount needed to make repairs to the dress. If it is damaged beyond repair, the renter will pay the amount that you and I agree upon to compensate for the loss of it. This amount will be determined when you sign the consignment form. Most renters are very careful with the dresses they rent as they do not want to be responsible for paying this full amount.
How many times can my dress be rented out?
–It will vary from dress to dress depending on the quality and durability of the fabric.
How long will you keep my dress?
–As long as its condition remains good and it continues to be in style, we will keep renting it out. If it becomes outdated or worn, we will contact you to come pick up your dress.
I have decided to consign. What do I need to do?
–If you have read the above described FAQs and are in agreement with them, please contact me by filling out the form above.
